How to Reduce Spam
While it's almost impossible to completely stop spam, there are a few simple things you can do that will reduce the amount of spam you receive.

Sign up for a FREE web based e-mail account. Use this FREE e-mail account when you sign up to newsletters, post in forums/message boards, chat rooms, enter contests, and play online games; most anywhere that's free but requires registration. This keeps your ISP e-mail address private. Only give your e-mail address to friends/relatives.

Avoid sending e-mails that have been forwarded to you that include a lot of other people's e-mail address, and asks those who have your ISP e-mail address to do the same. It's simple to copy just the part of the e-mail you want forwarded into a new e-mail.

Use the spam filters built into the e-mail reader you are using, some ISPs even offer to filter the e-mail before you even receive it.

When you do receive spam, and you will; DO NOT click on the links in the e-mail or the unsubscribe/removal links. Most don't work but you are letting the sender know that the e-mail was received and read. Which only will lead to MORE spam from them!
